A single-car crash occurred on Tuesday morning causing two people to be rushed to Lee Memorial Hospital. The accident occurred on Airport-Pulling Road close to Pine Ridge Road, according to the local Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred when Mario Lollio, 26, of Naples, was driving northbound on Airport-Pulling Road in the left-hand lane. He turned quickly to the right in his Kia Sportage to avoid running into a palm frond, which caused him to lose control of the car, according to the police at the scene. Lollio then lost control of his car as it continued to travel northeast on Airport-Pulling Road until crashing into a concrete curb and guardrail.

The passenger of the Kia, Dana Rosteutscher, 29, suffered serious injuries. Lollio only had minor injuries.

A report from the FHP reports that there was no alcohol involved in the accident and that neither the passenger nor the driver was wearing a seat belt at the time.

Lollio is now facing charges of careless driving as well as driving with a suspended license, according to the accident report.

The Naples accident was reported at 9:30 a.m.
