Pradaxa, also known as Dabigatran, is manufactured by Boehringer Ingelheim. Pradaxa was originally approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in October 2010. You are at higher risk of bleeding if you are over 75 years old, have kidney problems, have stomach or intestine bleeding that is recent or keeps coming back, have a stomach ulcer, or if you take other medications that increase your risk of bleeding, including aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), warfarin sodium (Coumadin, Jantoven), or medicines that contain heparin.
